Xiaolu “Shelly” Pan joined the Serody lab as a PhD student in 2020. After graduating with a doctorate from Guiyang Medical University in China, Shelly studied as a master’s student in Ronald DePinho’s lab at MD Anderson in Houston using transgenic mice to study cancer. Then, Shelly became interested in CRISPR and spent a couple of years studying gene therapy in the lab of Xander Wehrens at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston. Shelly is currently interested in further understanding the role of B cells in breast cancer.

In her free time, Shelly enjoys lots of activities, including but not limited to hiking, playing her ukulele and singing, Chinese calligraphy, food-exploring, etc. Due to the new fashion in 2020, Shelly now enjoys going to zoom parties to play board games with friends.
