The inaugural event Golfing for the Gals raised more than $7,000 for endometrial and uterine cancer research at UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center. The event was held on Sept. 13, 2020, at the Bryan Park Golf & Conference Center near Greensboro, NC.

The event featured guest speaker Paola Gehrig, MD, professor and director of the UNC Gynecologic Oncology program and member of UNC Lineberger. Gehrig spoke about the importance of philanthropy on furthering research, her team and the uterine cancer program at UNC Lineberger.

Also in attendance from UNC Lineberger were Victoria Bae-Jump, MD, PhD, professor of Gynecologic Oncology and UNC TREND joint leader, and Carrie Dobbins, director of development, major gifts.

Organized by Lisa Milligan, the golf tournament followed COVID-19 precautions for both golfing and the luncheon. Next year’s golf tournament fundraiser event will be held at the Governor’s Club in Chapel Hill, NC, on Sept. 9, 2021, and will include a silent auction.
