Welcome to CCSP/Palliative Care Grand Rounds

The Palliative Care and Comprehensive Cancer Support Programs (CCSP) co-organize weekly presentations on the care of seriously ill patients and their families, including individuals living with cancer, relevant to interdisciplinary clinicians. Individual topics address pain and symptom management, communication approaches with patients and families, strategies to facilitate coping and support, quality improvement and research in these disciplines.

Palliative Care Approach to Pain in Challenging Patient Populations

 

Bio:

Jennifer McEntee, MD, MPH, MA.Ed is an Associate Professor in the Departments of Medicine and Pediatrics and serves as a clinician educator, academic hospitalist, and palliative care and hospice provider. She also serves as the Associate Program Director for Internal medicine residency program for the inpatient rotations. She is a graduate from the University of Oklahoma Medical School and Tulane School of Public Health. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatric Program at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, NC. She also has received her Masters in Education from the University of Notre Dame as a Double-Domer. After residency, she returned to the “plains states” area – where she grew up (South Dakota) and joined the faculty at the University of Minnesota. She returned to UNC in 2016 after completing her fellowship in Palliative Care and Hospice Medicine at Duke. Dr. McEntee is extremely interested in improving medical provider-patient communication, medical provider resiliency, international health, public health, quality improvement, resident and medical student education, and in promoting competent, compassionate patient-oriented care. She continues to enjoy spending time with her family and friends, playing competitive tennis, photography, travelling, and participating in outdoors adventures including hiking and cycling to name a few of her hobbies.
