Welcome to Schwartz Rounds Conference

UNC, in the Schwartz Rounds program since 2004, continues to offer an open forum for healthcare providers to openly discuss the social and emotional challenges they face in caring for patients and families and in supporting one another. In contrast to traditional medical rounds, the focus is empathy, compassion and the power of human interaction. Providers have an opportunity to share their experiences, thoughts and feelings on thought-provoking topics drawn from actual patient cases. Panelists from diverse disciplines participate in the sessions, including physicians, nurses, social workers, psychologists, allied health professionals and chaplains. Attendees are invited to share their own perspectives on the case itself or on the broader themes represented. The conference, with varied announced topics, is held once a month from September through May. The Rounds are open to all members of the UNC health care system.
