To help us honor this commitment, we must raise awareness about – and then work to eliminate – systems and barriers. Many of us believe this has to start (but not finish) with listening and hopefully understanding the lived experience of those with diverse backgrounds.

Establishing the Equity Council
The Executive Core of the Equity Council was formed as part of Phase 1 to address diversity, equity and inclusion at UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center.
As part of Phase 1, individuals may nominate themselves or a colleague to be part of the full Equity Council.
In Phase 2, the Equity Council will establish several subcommittees charged with implementation and accountability.
UNC Lineberger is committed to the long-term work towards infusing diversity, equity and inclusion throughout the cancer center’s programs and policies. The Equity Council will develop and announce action items for UNC Lineberger faculty and staff to take, and opportunities to engage with DEI efforts.
