Each month the team at the Lineberger Cancer Network volunteers at an organization within the local Chapel Hill community to promote growth and foster strong relationships with the organizations that aide our community. This month, the team took their efforts to the Carolina Community Garden, an engagement program with the NC Botanical Garden on UNC Chapel Hill’s campus.

The Carolina Community Garden exists to provide UNC employees access to fresh and sustainably grown fruits and vegetables. The garden also acts as a learning community for those who wish to learn more about gardening, sustainable farming, and healthy living. The CCG is ran with the help of staff, students, faculty, and local members of the Chapel Hill community. The garden primarily seeks to serve lower wage employees at the university.

This month the team happened to be at the garden on Halloween, with Tim dressing like a scarecrow and Lindsey like Winnie the Pooh (Patrick opted not to join). “It can be exceptionally rewarding to take a break from your routine and join with colleagues and community members to do something meaningful for others,” said Tim.

Tune in next month to see where the UNCLCN team volunteers next!
