Today is Tar Heal Tuesday, which is how UNC Health celebrates the international day of giving, Giving Tuesday!

UNC Lineberger is going all in on this special day of giving to create a healthier future for all. Your gift today to UNC Lineberger can support the following areas:

Where the need is greatest

UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center is the only public National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center in the state, serving the citizens of North Carolina and beyond. A gift to UNC Lineberger provides resources for physicians and scientists to uncover the causes of cancer at the genetic and environmental levels, to conduct groundbreaking laboratory research, to provide compassionate care, and to translate findings into innovative clinical trials.

Today, on Tar Heal Tuesday, our goal is to raise $30,000. When you make your gift to this fund, your impact will be DOUBLED! Generous anonymous donors will be matching all gifts, dollar-for-dollar up to $13,500. Will you join us?

Cancer Genetics

Nearly 10,000 women in North Carolina will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year. Each of those women are unique. Just like them, their cancer is also unique.

Decades ago, we thought of breast cancer as one disease. Today, we know that’s not true thanks to research done in labs like the Perou Lab, which showed that breast cancers can be divided into at least five molecular subtypes. If we understand more about this disease, we can find better ways to fight it.

The Perou Lab is gathering all the tools needed to improve outcomes for patients. This lab brings together experts in genomics, genetics, cancer biology, bioinformatics, epidemiology, clinical research – and YOU.

Your gift to the Perou Lab will help discover what is still unknown about breast cancer – and with that information, develop targeted, personalized treatments that are as unique as the women fighting cancer.

Right now all gifts to The Charles Perou Research Fund will be matched by a generous anonymous donor – increasing your impact and the speed of research.

Dina’s Dynasty for Ovarian Cancer Research

Women with ovarian cancer are typically asymptomatic until the disease is advanced and far more difficult to treat, and there are no screening tests to help in early detection. Dina’s Dynasty Ovarian Cancer Fund supports UNC Lineberger in developing reliable screening methods for ovarian cancer and providing outstanding care for ovarian cancer patients.
