Dear UNC Cancer Network Friends,

September has arrived, and I, for one, am ready for some cooler weather! I hope that you and your loved ones are well in these very trying times.

On August 28th, we were very proud to premiere the first in a series of lectures titled The Biology of Cancer: Exploring the Role of Race, Class, and Socioeconomics in the Underserved and the Underrepresented. This series is a partnership between North Carolina Central University, North Carolina A&T State University, and The Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center. Last Friday’s presentation by Dr. Tony Baines is titled: What Is Cancer? Why Do We Care? Health Disparity & Health Equity. You may find a recording of this lecture, along with a schedule of future events at www.thebiologyofcancer.org.

I encourage you to register for the next lecture, titled Exploring the Role of Race, Class, and Socioeconomics in the Underserved and the Underrepresented, presented by Dr. Checo Rorie on September 11th at 11:00 AM. Registration information and other details are also available at www.thebiologyofcancer.org.

We are looking forward to our September professional lectures. Please join us on Wednesday, September 9th, at noon for Safe Use of Dietary Supplements in Cancer Patients. It will be presented by Amanda H. Corbett, PharmD, BCPS, FCCP. Details and registration information may be found at https://unclineberger.org/unclcn/event/09092020/.
