UNC Lineberger’s Antonio Amelio, PhD, assistant professor in the UNC Adams School of Dentistry, was named the first place recipient of the 2019 IADR Joseph Lister Award for New Investigators.

The award is managed by the International Association for Dental Research (IADR), and supported by Johnson & Johnson Consumer Inc., makers of Listerine. The competition was created to award young investigators with original research in oral disease prevention or oral health promotion.

Amelio was one of 10 international finalists selected to deliver a presentation at the IADR General Session & Exhibition held in Vancouver, Canada. A judging committee selected him as the top recipient for the award, which comes with $5,000 and a $3,000 travel stipend.
