Newsweek has recognized UNC Hospitals as one of the country’s top cancer hospitals.

UNC Hospitals ranked 42nd out of 175 hospitals named to the magazine’s America’s Best Cancer Hospitals 2023 list. UNC Hospitals’ North Carolina Basnight Cancer Hospital is the clinical home of UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, the only public National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center in North Carolina.

Newsweek’s rankings, developed in partnership with Statista, a global research company, are based on three data sources – a nationwide online survey of more than 2,000 hospital managers and health care professionals, hospital quality metrics and patient experience.

“Earning this national recognition by Newsweek is a testament to our team members’ commitment to provide the most advanced and compassionate cancer care that is guided by the latest research discoveries,” said UNC Hospitals President Janet Hadar, MSN, MBA, FACHE. “From our comprehensive care and support programs to the research we conduct in our laboratories, clinics and communities, we are providing our patients with the best possible cancer care close to where they live.”
