UNC Hospitals – and its North Carolina Cancer Hospital, the clinical home of UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center – was ranked as the top cancer center in North Carolina and 27th nationally in the U.S. News & World Report 2019-20 Best Hospitals survey.

“We’re obviously pleased that U.S. News & World Report recognized the North Carolina Cancer Hospital as the top ranked cancer center in North Carolina,” said Shelton Earp, MD, director of UNC Lineberger. “While there are different schools of thought about the rankings and its methodologies, we’re extremely proud of our multi-disciplinary clinical programs, research innovations and the compassionate, expert care that our faculty and staff provide to our patients and their families.”

“We are so proud of our caregivers and staff at UNC Cancer Care. This is a great recognition of our patient-oriented approach,” said Brendan Fitzpatrick, director of UNC Cancer Services.

The U.S. News & World Report rankings are based on an extensive every day analysis combining performance measures in three primary dimensions of healthcare: structure, process/expert opinion, and outcomes. This year’s survey rated nearly 5,000 hospitals, including 885 cancer hospitals and centers.
