Basch co-authors Friends of Cancer Research white paper
UNC Lineberger's Ethan Basch, MD, MSc, professor in the UNC School of Medicine Division of Hematology/Oncology and director of the UNC Lineberger's Cancer Outcomes Research Program, was a contributor to a white paper for the Friends of Cancer Research. Basch and the working group behind the paper developed a working definition of "tolerability" to better capture the patient experience.

Metastatic breast cancer patients report high level of financial impact
A study led by UNC Lineberger's Stephanie Wheeler, PhD, investigated the extent and severity of negative financial effects of cancer among women with breast cancer that has spread in the body. Black women more likely to report not taking breast cancer medication as prescribed
A study led by UNC Lineberger’s Stephanie Wheeler, PhD, found that black women were more likely than white women to report not taking endocrine therapy for breast cancer as prescribed, which could help explain why hormone-receptor positive breast cancer mortality is higher among black women.

More frequent screening after prostate cancer treatment not linked to improved survival
At the 2018 American Society of Clinical Oncology Annual Meeting, UNC Lineberger's Ronald Chen, MD, MPH, and colleagues presented findings from a study that assessed whether monitoring prostate cancer patients following treatment with a PSA test every three months versus once a year would provide a long-term survival benefit.
