Tim Poe and Max Gainer from the UNC Cancer Network had the privilege of attending this year’s Unleash 2016 Mediasite User Conference May 2-4 in Madison, Wisconsin. Our team uses Mediasite to stream and record all of our oncology lectures. We also host our lectures in Mediasite Showcase at: http://unccn.mediasite.mcnc.org/mcnc/showcase . The conference provided Tim and Max with the opportunity to give two presentations regarding the innovative ways the UNC Cancer Network integrates Mediasite with Salesforce, Sakai, and more. Max and Tim returned with plenty of exciting ideas on how to add closed captioning, assessment, and more to our current recorded lectures.
The UNC Cancer Network was very proud to host the first annual C.A.R.E. Behind the Chair (Cancer Awareness Responsibility Education) event on May 23rd. This free, live online presentation was offered to provide hair stylists, barbers, RNs, LPNs, and students enrolled in cosmetology programs with information regarding the detection of melanoma and skin cancers of the scalp. David Ollila, MD, Nancy Thomas, MD, and Andrea Saccone Snyder, Hair Stylist all graciously provided their time and expertise to highlight the dangers of Melanoma, as well as strategies to assist in identifying possible melanoma or skin cancer in clients for referral to a physician. Community Service

Members of the UNCCN Telehealth team recently volunteered as a group at the SECU Family House on May 17, 2016. The team had fun scrubbing walls, floors, cabinets, and stoves for hours. “It was an honor for the UNC Cancer Network Telehealth Team to volunteer at the SECU Family House http://www.secufamilyhouse.org/, said Tim Poe, Telehealth director. “This was a valuable experience and a great way to utilize community service leave”, said Mary King, Operations Coordinator.
