A Busy Squirrel in the Garden

Dear UNC Lineberger Cancer Network Friend,

Happy February! I hope that you and your family are safe and well. Please know how enthused our team is about the new year ahead. We will soon be introducing a new Learning Portalwhich should make our lectures easier to access than ever before. Please stay tuned.  We have plenty of new lectures in our regular series, and we also look forward to the second year of The Biology of Cancer, which will resume in August.

I am very excited about this Wednesday, February 10th‘s noon PatientCentered Care lecture (NPCD/CNE, ASRT, & ACPE credit) with Ashley Leak Bryant, PhD, RN-BC, OCN. It is titled Interprofessional Collaboration in Caring for Adults with Cancer. This will be the first time we have specifically covered this topic. Please register to attend. Like all our lectures, it is free and open to all.

Our Research to Practice lecture (CME, NPCD/CNE, ASRT, & ACPE credit) February 24th is Updates on Immune Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP) and Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (TTP).  We are really looking forward to having Alice Ma, MD, FACP join us for her very first lecture with the UNCLCN. Please register to attend. Please note that this is specifically a hematology lecture and not an oncology lecture. We try to feature one lecture that is specific to hematology each year.

If you are a community college student (or interested in the topic) be sure to consider viewing Gynecologic Cancers: A Team Approach to Women’s Health Care on February 17th with Daniel Clarke-Pearson, MD and Lyn Filip, RN, BSN, OCN. Please note that we do not offer continuing education credit for Community College Oncology Lectures, but we do offer certificates of participation. Please register to attend.

Additionally, don’t forget about the Comprehensive Cancer Support Program/Palliative Care Grand Rounds and Caregiver Conversations. You can find these and more at our Partners page

Wishing you strength and fortitude in these challenging times,

Tim
