Bluebird of March

Dear UNC Lineberger Cancer Network Friend,

It is difficult to think of a spring that has felt more welcome than that of 2021. Warmer days and sunny skies over the past few weeks foreshadow the hope that so many of us have for better times ahead.

We have three great lectures planned for you this month:

On Wednesday, March 10th at noon is our Patient-Centered Care lecture (CNE, ASRT, & ACPE credit) with Frances A. Collichio, MD. It is titled Immune (check point) Related Adverse Events 2021. Please visit https://unclineberger.org/unclcn/event/03102021/ to learn more and register. Like all our lectures, it is free and open to all.

Our Research to Practice lecture (CME, CNE, ASRT, & ACPE credit) on March 24th is COVID-19 and Oncology. We are really looking forward to having Stephen Kimani, MD, MSc join us for his very first lecture with the UNCLCN on what is clearly a very timely topic. You can learn more about Dr. Kimani from Mary King’s article in this same newsletter. Please see https://unclineberger.org/unclcn/event/03242021/ to register.

If you are a community college student (or interested in the topic), I hope that you will join us for Caring for the Patient with Hematologic Cancers: Leukemia, Lymphoma, and Multiple Myeloma on March 17th with Natalie Grover, MD, and Courtney Berry, BS, MA, BSN, RN, OCN. Please note that we do not offer continuing education credit for Community College Oncology Lectures, but we offer certificates of participation. More information and registration are available at https://unclineberger.org/unclcn/event/03172021/.

We look forward to bringing you more compelling lectures and exciting news in the months ahead. Please stay tuned for an announcement regarding a dynamic partnership to bring you a new APP Oncology Grand Rounds series, beginning in May!

Wishing you strength and fortitude in these challenging times,

Tim
