UNC Lineberger researchers, led by Kemi Doll, MD, have published a study in the American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology. The study looked at referral patterns between centers with high and low volumes of gynecologic oncology care and the treatment women with uterine cancer received there.

The study found that nearly one-third of women treated at low-volume centers had high risk of disease, and these low volume centers had lower rates of guideline-adherent care. Survival was highest for women who had all treatment at high volume centers, and lowest for women who had no treatment at high volume centers.

Kemi Doll, MD is a fellow in the UNC School of Medicine Division of Gynecologic Oncology.

The study was titled “Referral patterns between High and Low Volume Centers and Associations with Uterine Cancer Treatment and Survival: A population-based study of Medicare, Medicaid, and privately insured women.”
