Eliza “Leeza” Park, MD, has received a nearly $900,000, five-year grant from the National Institutes of Health for development of psychosocial interventions to improve outcomes for parents with advanced cancer.
Park, a UNC Lineberger member and assistant professor in the UNC School of Medicine Department of Psychiatry, is a recipient of the Cancer Prevention, Control, Behavioral Sciences, and Population Sciences Career Development Award.
“I am excited about the opportunity to address the needs of parents living with advanced cancer,” Park said of the nearly $900,000 grant. “My hope is that this research will eventually lead to improved quality of life and lower distress for both patients and their families.”
Park will be mentored during the grant period by UNC Lineberger members Laura Hanson, MD, MPH, and Carey Anders, MD. Mi-Kyung Song, PhD, of Emory University will also be a mentor.
