Katie Hoadley, PhD, an assistant professor in the UNC School of Medicine Department of Genetics, and Richard Moffitt, PhD, a postdoctoral research associate at UNC Lineberger, joined with scientists around the globe to conduct a comprehensive genomic analysis of adrenocortical carcinoma.
The effort was conducted as part of The Cancer Genome Atlas, a federally-funded effort to map the genetic drivers of cancer. The results of the collaboration, published in Cancer Cell, identified several genes that drive adrenal cancer. The analysis uncovered double the number of genetic drivers already known to fuel adrenal cancer.
