Data Policy
Recording Storage limits
UNC Lineberger Cancer Network provides recording and digital media storage solutions for webinars, events, symposiums, conferences, and meetings. In order to provide reliable and financially conscientious data management, the following data storage policy is detailed on this page.
At a maximum our storage allows for a 3, 5, and 7 years shelf-life depending on the purpose and type of the recording. After the specified time, stakeholders or presenters will need to request a download of the media for self-retention prior to deletion. For UNCLCN produced educational webinars and lectures, it is our policy to store this for access for 7 years. For events, symposiums, and conferences, it is our policy to store these types of recordings for 5 years. For meetings and other short-term purposed recordings, it is our policy to store for a maximum of 3 years.
Recording stakeholders will have the option to request extensions for special circumstances, but this request must be made to unclcn@unc.edu prior to the specified storage time frame is completed.

Recording Procedure
If your requested recording is approved, a UNCLCN team member will be assigned to assist with managing the recording and storage. Limited editing is also available to include modifying the beginning and ending of the video file. Our expected time frame for completed editing and storage management is 24 hours after the event. Additional modifications or updates to presentation slides is available by request after the recording is published on the UNCLCN Video Library.
Video Library
UNCLCN utilizes the Mediasite Video Library for storage solutions. Mediasite allows for both publicly accessible, downloadable, and private video recordings services.
